MERCURY is the gentlest, sweetest dog in town.  He was born in a gutter with his 9 brothers and sisters in the most appalling circumstances on Christmas day, 25th December 2015, the hottest day of the year. His mother's owner had died and the neighbours chased his pregnant mom onto a very busy road when she was in labour.  Because his mother had nowhere to feed and to nurture her puppies, 4 of them had died in the blazing heat before we could rescue them on Boxing Day.  The mother whom we named Monique, collapsed from the strain, but we managed to pull her through and she and her 6 puppies all survived. Mercury appears to be a Greyhound/Canis Africanis, he is tallish, slim, with an athlete’s body and he has a well-formed ridge on his back.  With his long legs and athletic build he would love to run on a beach or follow you up a mountain trail.     He needs a sensitive owner who will build up his self confidence and give him the best possible home.  His is now one year and ten months old. We cannot understand why he still hasn’t been chosen.
