IS YOUR DOG OR CAT WORTH R30,00 TO YOU?

HOW MUCH IS YOUR DOG OR CAT WORTH TO YOU? IS IT WORTH R30

If you answered "yes" then let me explain:  R30 could make all the difference in ensuring whether your beloved pet lives or dies.

R30 is the cost of a metal identity disk which ensures that if your pet gets lost it can be traced back to you.

Better still, if your pet is microchipped for an affordable fee to most people, it has an even better chance of being reunited with its owner.

We, at Adopt-a-Pet have to face the cruel reality everyday when people phone to report that they have lost their pets, or if we find lost pets, that 99% of lost pets are unidentifiable and can seldom, if ever, be reunited with their owners. They are not wearing collars with identity disks and they are not microchipped.   Worse still, with the new City of Cape Town Animal By-laws, any animal found in the streets, will be impounded, kept for 10 days and then killed if not claimed in time.

According to an article in the press, the release fee will be R114 per night. Do you even know where the pounds are?

Why are pet owners so indifferent about the security of their animals, which they purport to care for so much?

Think about it... if your dog or cat goes missing, how can it be traced back to you?  The answer is, it can't and it will probably die as a result.

The excuses are always the same: (1) My dog never gets out; (2) I just gave my dog a bath and forgot to put its collar on again.   (I think we must have the best washed dogs in he country!)

IT IS UP TO PET OWNERS TO DECIDE WHETHER THEIR DOGS OR CATS ARE WORTH R30? IF NOT, THEY DO NOT DESERVE TO OWN THEM.
