Morris who has been working for Adopt-a-Pet since March 2014 as a kennel assistant.
Because we don’t have uniformed inspectors we have sensitized our staff to
recognize animals in trouble in their own communities as well as those which
their owners want to have sterilized. No other animal organizations work
in these five high risk areas where we are inundated with requests for
assistance. Although we are not a clinic and do not have our own vet, we
use private vets who are more than willing to help these animals – albeit at
a cost which is thankfully discounted. We get NO assistance from the City
of Cape Town or from any other official body and we get no assistance from
the conventional animal societies. But we have our “lay” inspectors on the
ground. I learned about “lay” inspectors while living overseas and it is a
concept which really works. So, to the Morris’s of this world, thank you
for your sensitivity and compassion for those animals who would otherwise
die without our intervention.
